Our Wound Pathogen Testing
Our wound pathogen assay utilizes the latest in quantitative RT-PCR (real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) technology to rapidly and reliably analyze your patient's sample. PCR provides the greatest sensitivity and specificity with the ability to rapidly detect and differentiate 98-99% of the most common aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria, viral and fungal targets, and polymicrobial infections. Our universal medium eliminates the need for specialized live sample handling or storage by safely inactivating and stabilizing the sample in transport for subsequent analysis. This reduces the impact of transport time and cost.

99% Effective RT-PCR Pathogen Test
RT-PCR comes with many benefits, including the capbility to determine whether the patient is infected with a bacteria strain resistant to common antibiotics and/or identifying if medication or cosmetic treatment is the appropriate route. Due to identifying the bacteria DNA, your team can properly diagnose and prescribe the antibacterial medication in alignment with the bacteria on the skin. Allowing you to not prescribe a medication that won’t work or overmedicating.
All wound-like marks (abrasions, minor cuts, redness, tender skin marks, swells, fluid, pus, slow to heal marks, bites, burns, ulcers usually caused by diabetes or vascular causes) have bacteria. Some are to help it heal with others are or will turn into an infection. We get ahead of it by swabbing it. Our test is 99% effective and accurate in identifying genetically what the cause and source of this are.
This saves the facility, practices, and individuals money getting in front of the issue, If infection grows can increase treatment costs for everyone involved.

PCR vs Traditional Cultures
PCR is usually out-competes traditional cultures for a variety of reasons, including (but not limited to):
- Traditional cultures fail to grow more than 85% of organisms identified in chronic wounds. Cultures also have limitations that render them almost irrelevant for the diagnosis of polymicrobial clinical and biofilm infections.
- Identifies poly-microbial infections.
- Includes Resistance Gene Analysis to assist with therapeutic selection.
- Provides rapid results for skin and soft tissue infections, avoiding delays in diagnosis, and preventing infections from progressing.
